Huawei in its latest announcement has said that they are soon going to launch their upcoming Kirin 990 flagship mobile processor with a built-in 5G modem. However, the company did not mention the exact date of the launch. All they said was that Kirin 990 will be launched with other Huawei smartphones in India. This also suggests that the company is all prepped up to launch their new Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30 in the country. These are the first smartphones that are powered by Kirin 990 SoC.
The first time the company spoke about Kirin 990 5G processor was at IFA 2019 which took place earlier this month. This is the first-ever mobile processor from Huawei to have an integrated 5G modem. It is based on a EUV process which is also going to provide you with better power efficiency. It is expected to be better than the other processors that come with a separate 5G modem like Kirin 980. According to the company, there new 5G modem can offer upload speeds of 1.2 Gbps and download speeds of 2.3 Gbps.
5G services are expected to start in India in the second half of 2020. Smartphone companies are ready to launch their 5G devices to the market in the first half of next year. Companies like Nokia, Realme, and Xiaomi have already expressed their interest in launching affordable 5G devices in the market for the consumers. However, Huawei Kirin 990 will be a part of high-end smartphones like Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30.
Considering the high costs of 5G devices there are chances that Huawei may launch 4G and 5G versions of Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30 in India.
